A ND in naturopathic medicine educates students in the art and science of naturopathic medicine. While enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy naturopathy program, students will work with many health techniques, including: hydrotherapy, food and herb therapy, psychotherapy, electrotherapy, minor surgery, or other naturopathic corrections.
Candidates choose to go into research or tenure positions, once they are certified as a Doctor of Philosophy in Naturopathy. Additionally, there are many other careers, some of which can be quite lucrative. Graduate cans choose to branch into positions such as alternative health care practitioner, chiropractor, family and general practitioner, massage therapist, or an internist.
This is typically a four-year professional medical degree in which graduates are educated in the same basic sciences as MDs, including natural therapeutics and nontoxic approaches to therapy. The program lays a strong foundation in biomedical sciences, such as, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and pathology along with physical, clinical and laboratory diagnosis.
Part- and full-time study options, along with various delivery modes - residential programs, distance education programs and online programs - are also available American ND programs in naturopathy welcome foreign students. However, fluency in spoken and written English is critically important.
